ALYSSA PRATER
Black Warrior River watershed

Alyssa is an enthusiastic supporter of ARA’s work and was formerly a member of ARA’s Young Professional River Defenders from 2019 through 2024. She has previously served on the Junior Board of the Freshwater Land Trust as Vice President and Public Service Chair.

Since 2021, she has worked for Southern Environmental Law Center’s Alabama office as Legal Assistant/Office Administrator. She is proud of SELC’s commitment to protecting the environment, biodiversity, and people of Alabama. Alyssa graduated from Boston College’s Arts & Sciences Honors Program with a BA in Political Science. She is interested in environmental policy, public administration, and ways in which communities prepare to face and overcome the climate disaster.

Alyssa maintains her connection to the natural world by hiking and photographing the parks and preserves of the Southeast. An avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi, when she’s not spending time outdoors, you can find her curled up with her cats and a good book. She loves to cook and try new recipes and restaurants with PJ, her partner and fellow cat-parent, nature-lover, and explorer.
