This one-day educational program is open to the general public and strives to educate citizens about watersheds and water issues, provide communities with the knowledge of how to protect and improve water quality and empower communities to help protecting the quality of their watersheds. The program is coordinated by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System Water Program, in partnership with Alabama Water WatchAuburn University Water Resource Center, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, and local resource partners at each event.

Topics covered will include:

  • Watershed Systems: What they are and how they work
  • Watershed Quality: Learn about water quantity and quality in Alabama
  • How you can improve watershed function
  • Community driven watershed management
  • Local water related organizations

Alabama Watershed Stewards (AWS) is a statewide science-based educational program that promotes healthy watersheds, increases understanding of water pollution, and provides the knowledge and tools needed to prevent and resolve local water quality problems.

Sign in starts at 8:30 am, training is from 9:00 – 4:00 pm.
