Join the Huntsville Environmental Coalition for our next Green Thinks gathering! This month, we’re diving into the world of native plant landscaping and how it supports pollinators, biodiversity, and ecological resilience right here in the Tennessee Valley.

Our featured speaker is Aaron Stiles, founder and owner of a local nature-focused landscaping business called Foraging Ahead. He’ll be giving a 20-minute talk on how simple changes to our lawns and gardens—like planting milkweed, bluestem, and bush asters—can help restore crucial habitat for fireflies, monarch butterflies, and native bees.

Where: Yellowhammer Brewing
Wednesday, May 28 at 6:00 PM

Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your friends. As always, the event is free and open to all. Let’s rethink what a healthy yard can look like—starting with a beer or mocktail and good conversation.

About the Speaker: Aaron Stiles

Aaron Stiles is the founder and owner of Foraging Ahead and a passionate advocate for restoring biodiversity through native plant landscaping. A lifelong nature enthusiast, Aaron has spent years studying the complex relationships between plants, insects, and ecosystems.

After managing a research greenhouse for three years, he now collaborates with state parks and conservation groups to promote ecological landscaping practices.

His journey began when he noticed a troubling decline in pollinators and fireflies across the Tennessee Valley. Determined to take action, Aaron began educating others on the vital role that so-called “weeds” like milkweed and bush asters play in sustaining wildlife. He now leads efforts to reshape our understanding of what a “nice yard” can be: not a monoculture of turfgrass, but a thriving haven for native species.

With humor, deep knowledge, and a contagious love for the outdoors, Aaron makes the case for lawns that give back to the planet.
