ONLINE Course: Audubon at Home: Mastering Winter Water Birds
January 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Pre-registration is required by 2 p.m. CST Friday, January 7th. Visit alaudubon.org/event/2022-01-10 for more information and to register.
Greg Harber provides a comprehensive look at all the birds you’re likely to encounter on or near Alabama’s winter waterways. Topics include identifying loons, grebes, geese, ducks, and cranes, as well as finding reliable populations of these birds throughout Alabama. One local field trip may be offered as pandemic precautions permit in late January or early February to supplement classroom learning.
Where and when do we meet? This online course meets on four Mondays (1/10, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7), from 6–8 p.m. CST, with the exception of January 17th when there will be no class in observance of MLK Day. It will be a two-hour online class with some time at the end for questions.
Cost: Your one-time registration fee of $40 covers all four meetings.* (While you are not required to attend each class, do note that we cannot refund individuals for partial attendance.) We will be recording the webinar and making it available to participants for a week after the class. *We understand there are economic barriers that many are facing during this time. If you live in Alabama and would like to request financial assistance, please email us.*
Textbook: The National Geographic Field Guide to the Birds of North America will serve as the text for this course. All participants are encouraged to purchase their own copy of the book. You are more than welcome to purchase the book in a format that best suits your reading preferences. We encourage registrants to support their local book store when possible. Other field guides may be used as well, in which case the birds in discussion will be found on different pages. If purchasing through Amazon, we recommend using Amazon Smile and selecting Alabama Audubon as your charity of choice!
