Presentation by Dr. Larry Davenport and Ken Wills – Exploring Wild Alabama

Stories and pictures from the book, Exploring Wild Alabama. Larry Davenport and Ken Wills have explored the wild places in Alabama and have written a book. They will share some of their experiences with us this Thursday. Dr. Davenport is a biology professor at Samford University and Ken Wills successfully promoted getting the city of Hoover to make Moss Rock a city park and has traveled the state visiting other parks. The purpose (of the book) is to get people outdoors and experience special places, stated Davenport.

The book has been published by the University of Alabama Press and released this year. Exploring Wild Alabama is the go to guidebook about Alabama’s public lands. The book is rich with passages about the state’s biodiversity and special places. From Jackson County to the Gulf of Mexico, there are about 150 entries, filled with descriptions and vital information such as, how to travel to the public lands and what to expect when you arrive.

After the presentation, we will have books to purchase which can be signed by the authors. A must read and great gift for families and friends, Exploring Wild Alabama can be ordered through the University of Alabama Press or found at most local bookstores.
