FreeWater is Life: Fish Consumption Advisories with Coosa Riverkeeper’s Justinn Overton and Victoria Miller
Almost every river in Alabama has fish consumption advisories, with 200+ warnings across the state. Many folks don’t know where the fish are safe to eat and how to understand these advisories. Coosa Riverkeeper created FISH GUIDE, a wildly popular program for anglers throughout their watershed and beyond that informs them about the risks and provides alternatives to protect the health of fishers and their families. Join us Tuesday as we talk with them about their work to engage and inform the fishing community with tools like the new Waterkeepers Alabama interactive map. We will also hear more about how water quality standards that impact fish and opportunities for public input.
