Tuesday, December 15 – Water is Life with Ben Raines, author of the new book, Saving America’s Amazon: The Threat to Our Nation’s Most Biodiverse River System.

In what he calls a “love letter and call to arms for Alabama’s rivers”, Ben explores the most biodiverse ecosystem in our nation, the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. We promise you’ll walk away from this discussion with great pride to be from Alabama with an even greater appreciation of Alabama’s natural spaces. and recognizing a more urgent need to protect them.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Journalist, filmmaker, and environmental activist Ben Raines turns his attention to Alabama’s Tensaw Delta in this gorgeously illustrated and meticulously researched book. Identified by Raines and others as America’s own Amazon, the Tensaw Delta is the most biodiverse ecosystem in our nation. This special book celebrates this most significant of Alabama’s waterways while also chronicling how it is increasingly at risk.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday, starting on Rivers of Alabama Day (April 14), we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water, even in this new “normal”. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in!
