Water is Life: Labor and the Environment with Brett Wallace (artist and filmmaker) and Natasha Zaretsky (University of Alabama at Birmingham)

The connection between environmental protection and labor has never been more prevalent than it is today. From the Green New Deal to infrastructure, we are beginning to understand that policy solutions cannot be made in a vacuum.  The coal mining industry is certainly no stranger to labor and environmental struggles.  Join us Tuesday as we talk with artist and filmmaker Brett Wallace and UAB history professor Natasha Zaretsky about labor issues in Alabama – both past and present – and what we can learn as environmentalists.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in! Click here to watch any past Water is Life Zoom Talk.
