POSTONED: Out of respect and honor for the protests happening throughout the country, the Alabama Rivers Alliance is postponing our weekly Water is Life Zoom Discussion scheduled for tomorrow (June 2). We will reschedule Water is Life: On the Alabama River with Bill Finch (Finch Conservation) and Jason Throneberry (The Nature Conservancy in Alabama) soon.

We urge and encourage our members to take this time to thoughtfully consider how systemic racism has shaped our country, and how we can be a part of the change that is needed to make it just.

Water is Life: On the Alabama River with Bill Finch (Finch Conservation) and Jason Throneberry (The Nature Conservancy in Alabama)

Bill will share information about the incredible diversity – ecological, historical, and cultural – in the Alabama River watershed and efforts to preserve this great heritage through federal designations and partnerships. Jason will share information on efforts to develop fish passage around some of the dams on the Alabama and the importance of natural connectivity to life in the river.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday, starting on Rivers of Alabama Day (April 14), we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water, even in this new “normal”. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in!
