Water is Life: Hydropower with Sarah Stokes (SELC) and Colleen McNally-Murphy (Hydropower Reform Coalition). Moderated by Jack West (Alabama Rivers Alliance).

Join us Tuesday as we discuss hydropower in Alabama and how dams impact our rivers. Learn more about the recent success story on the Coosa River and what is next for the relicensing of the seven hydroelectric dams spanning 275 miles on the Coosa, as well as current relicensing efforts for Harris Dam on the Tallapoosa River. We’ll also hear from our national partners at the Hydropower Reform Coalition about some national policy initiatives to expect over the next few months.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday, starting on Rivers of Alabama Day (April 14), we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water, even in this new “normal”. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in!
