Tuesday, September 1 – Water is Life: Water Infrastructure with Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) and Black Warrior Riverkeeper

According to a report released last week, the US needs to invest a total of $109 billion per year in water infrastructure over the next 20 years (in 2019 equivalent dollars) to close the water infrastructure gap. Join us Tuesday as we talk with Rebecca Hammer (Natural Resource Defense Council) and Nelson Brooke (Black Warrior Riverkeeper) to hear how this chronic underinvestment is impacting communities. Also learn what advocates are doing at the federal level to secure funding and jobs around crucial water infrastructure needs.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday, starting on Rivers of Alabama Day (April 14), we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water, even in this new “normal”. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in!
