Water is Life: Make Your Voice Count! with Alabama Arise, League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham and Conservation Alabama.

Join us Tuesday as we discuss the important ways you can make your voice count in the coming weeks. With the US Census deadline approaching, we talk with Mike Nicholson (Alabama Arise) about how the census can shape many different aspects of your community and determines how funding is distributed for healthcare, schools, roads and other public services. Another important event is coming up you may have heard about: the 2020 Election! We’ll hear from Ida Tyree-Hyche Hill (League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham) about important deadlines and processes for voter registration and absentee ballots. Finally, Tammy Monistere (Conservation Alabama) will share why voting and the census are important to our conservation work here in Alabama.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday, starting on Rivers of Alabama Day (April 14), we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water, even in this new “normal”. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in!
