Unfortunately, we just heard that the Governor sig Unfortunately, we just heard that the Governor signed SB 71, so it is now law. Rest assured this is not the end of this fight for our rivers. We are already in conversation with partners about how we continue to hold our state accountable for regulating pollution in our waterways in the face of this new obstacle. While this bill is very harmful, it is not the only tool in the toolbox of our strong movement to protect Alabama’s water, air, and land.

Most of all we want you to know that everyone who sent letters, made calls, drove to Montgomery, wrote the media and more should hold your heads high. We were up against the most powerful interests in our state during an election year and we made them have to work really hard for this. Building power takes time - and we won’t win every battle - but we must keep building and fighting for the things we hold dear, like clean water, clean air and healthy people!

HERE'S OUR LAST SHOT. Please take one more moment HERE'S OUR LAST SHOT. Please take one more moment and tell Governor Kay Ivey to fix SB 71 before it is law!

Despite enormous opposition from Alabamians across the political spectrum, the Alabama Legislature passed SB 71 yesterday. If signed into law by the Governor, this legislation would make it much more difficult for Alabama to protect our beautiful natural resources, the lakes and rivers we love to fish and boat in, the wildlife we love to hunt, the water we drink, and the air we breathe unless the federal government tells us what to do.

The opposition to this legislation was also bipartisan in the House – Five (5) Representatives broke with their party and voted against this bill, taking a stand against big business interests who would sacrifice the health of Alabamians and our environment for a quick buck. Now it is up to Governor Ivey to protect her legacy of promoting and supporting Alabama’s outdoor recreation assets – assets that provide tens of thousands of jobs, billions of dollars in economic impact, and that help strengthen communities across Alabama.

Tell Governor Ivey that her conservation and outdoor recreation legacy depends on exercising her executive amendment powers to fix the problems with SB 71!

See link in bio to send your letter today!
