Phillip Howard

Phillip joined The Conservation Fund in November 2022 and serves as the director of the Legacy Places program.  As director, Phillip leads the effort to conserve, interpret, restore and protect African American heritage sites in Alabama and Mississippi.  Prior to joining the Fund, Phillip served in the Marines Corps and worked at the Department of Justice as a Community Outreach Reentry Coordinator. Phillip graduated from Stillman College, an HBCU, and received his MBA from Troy University.

 

Phillip was featured in the 2021 Southern Exposure Film, 54 MILES TO HOMES. This film, tells the “untold-until-now stories” of the three families who risked their lives by opening up their land to provide campsites for the thousands of marchers along the 54 mile route from Selma to Montgomery in 1965. After the Southern Exposure Film Fellowship ended, Phillip helped continue the story as producer on the longer version of the film, coming soon!
