ARA’s Program Director, Mitch Reid, takes on new role in
Alabama’s conservation movement
With bittersweet emotions, we must announce that ARA’s Program Director, Mitch Reid, will be leaving ARA in July to take on a new role in Alabama’s conservation movement as Director of External Affairs for The Nature Conservancy in Alabama. While we hate to lose such a wonderful asset to our organization, we are pleased that Mitch’s talents will remain in Alabama and that this move will allow him to continue to work on the effort toward a water management plan. We have a good partnership with TNC and look forward to continuing and growing that partnership.
As for ARA, Mitch will leave BIG shoes to fill. Since he came to us nine years ago, Mitch has developed expertise in areas of river protection such as: water management, FERC re-licensing, and instream flows that are unmatched by most in the Southeast. ARA is a stronger organization because of the work he has done. As difficult as this will be, we know that change brings opportunity.
There are, undoubtedly, many professionals out there who are interested in working with a great organization to protect Alabama’s 132,000+ miles of rivers and streams.
