Locust Fork Ramblers Hike #2: Fungi and Lichen
February 29, 2020 @ 3:30 am - 6:30 am
FreeThe unseen [de]composers of our environment. A single tablespoon of soil can contain miles of the fungal body we call mycelium. These organisms shape the environment and our lives in ways we are just now beginning to understand.
FLFR Ramblers are a nature based sauntering group that focuses on learning about the environment through experiences and observations. Led by Zac Napier, naturalist, through this program, you will understand what makes Blount County awesome by nature!
This Ramble will begin in the top of the plateau and then we will work our way down a moderate slope to the picturesque landscape of Cornelius falls. The property owners have granted us the opportunity to experience this wonder of the Locust Fork River!
This hike is easy to moderate due to moderately steep access to the river, and crossing of a few small tributaries over somewhat dry rocks. Wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Dress in layers and bring water, binoculars, notebook, and camera for the FLFR Photo contest! Register at www.FLFR.org
You will receive an email from [email protected] a day before the event.
