Strategic Plan 2023-2027
The Alabama Rivers Alliance is a statewide network of groups working to protect and restore all of Alabama’s water resources through building partnerships, empowering citizens, and advocating for sound water policy and its enforcement. Since our founding in 1997, we have helped build, support and lead a network of more than 100 community and watershed-based organizations working for clean water for people and nature.
To improve and protect Alabama’s water resources and ecosystems, Alabama Rivers Alliance will work toward the following impacts over the next five years:
- ARA is a valuable resource to communities and partners in advocating to ensure clean water for people and nature.
- ARA and its members are recognized by decision-makers and can influence and help guide environmental policy.
- Alabama’s natural and built water infrastructure is safe, equitable, resilient and ecologically healthy
To be successful it will take these strategies:
- Working hand in hand with communities
- Building our collective power to influence change
- Diversifying our movement
- Advocating for equitable distribution of infrastructure dollars and environmentally sound policy initiatives
- Increasing ARA’s capacity to lead these efforts
