Protecting and Promoting Native Fish with Matt Lewis (Native Fish Coalition, Alabama Chapter), Bob Mallard (Native Fish Coalition) and Emily Bastian (Native Fish Coalition).

Alabama is said to be home to more species of fish — more than 450 in 29 families — than any state or province in North America. Join us Tuesday as we talk with the Native Fish Coalition, an organization committed to protecting, preserving and restoring our wild native fish. We’ll learn about the organization’s origins in the Northeast and how they have recently expanded their reach into warm-water states. We’ll also hear from Matt Lewis, the Alabama chapter chair, about his work with native redeye bass and the chapter’s plans to promote and protect native fish here in Alabama.

ABOUT THE WATER IS LIFE SERIES

Each Tuesday we invite you to join us from noon – 1 pm for this virtual get-together…with a purpose! We will be highlighting the role that water plays in our lives throughout Alabama and we will share how you can participate in the efforts to protect water. You’ll hear from our partners across the state, and leading experts in water protection. We’ll even have a few river history lessons thrown in!
