Fran grew up in Attalla, Alabama and graduated from the Anniston Academy. She graduated from the University of the South with a degree in Forestry in 1977 and worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service for several years. Her father bought her farm in Steele, Al in 1976. She started her equestrian business, Summerworth Down, LLC in the 80’s and has trained horses and riders in Dressage and Eventing. Many of her horses and students have gone on to international success.

Fran has lived in Steele for about 50 years and loves the land, the community and the people. She has always been a proponent of nature, wildlife and the environment.
