Greg Guthrie
Geological Survey of Alabama

Greg Guthrie is the Director of Science Programs, the Director of the Groundwater Assessment Program, and the Director of the Ecosystems Investigations Program at the Geological Survey of Alabama. He is a Registered Professional Geologist, with almost 40-years’ experience as a geologist and hydrologist. He is the advisor to the State Geologist on water-related issues in Alabama, oversees groundwater assessment and monitoring in the state, and serves as science advisor for the Survey’s Geologic, Coastal, Environmental, and Energy divisions. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Water Resources Association, is the Co-Chair of the Associates section of the American Association of State Geologists, and is the President Elect of the Alabama Section of the American Water Resources Association. His current research is focused on evaluation and LSTM modeling of groundwater data and correlation of coastal plain stratigraphic units across the northern Gulf of Mexico basin.
