Comprehensive Water Resource Regulation and Permitting
Comprehensive Water Resource Regulation and Permitting are required in order for Alabama to protect the biological, chemical and physical integrity of our water resources in the public interest. The state must protect certain waters from allocation as well as authorize additional protections of the waters of the state. In order to do this, Alabama must adopt, implement, and enforce a water permitting regime in which the state accounts for and authorizes all consumptive uses of state waters and institutes programs for the preservation and protection of the flows required for public health and ecosystem function.
