Alabama Water Institute Symposium 2023

This two-day conference last occurred in 2019. We are excited to reprise it with plenty of new additions…including a keynote address from James Spann!

On April 6-7, 2023, AWI will host its 2023 Symposium here on campus at The University of Alabama. It will have a theme of H2O R20: Water Research to Operations, and will feature an opening talk from the Birmingham Director of Public Works, a student poster session, a water career fair, oral presentations, a faculty workshop, and a keynote address from James Spann!

The student poster competition ($200 to first place) will occur in the early evening on April 6, after the opening address. so if your parents will be in town for Honors Day, be sure to bring them for support.

April 7, 2023:

8:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Breakfast, Oral presentations, networking breaks (Breakout Rooms, BCC)
12 PM – 1 PM: Keynote Address (James Spann) with Lunch (Capstone Ballroom)
1 PM – 1:15 PM: Thank you to James, Midday announcements, and ‘concluding’ remarks
1:30 – 3:30 PM:
1. Water Career Fair (student focus) (Breakout Rooms BCC)
2. Tips from an NSF PO (faculty focus) (Breakout Rooms BCC)

Abstract decisions sent by March 10 5:00 PM

Additionally, we still have room for additional companies to exhibit at the career fair portion of the symposium. There is no cost to do so and you will be able to market your company and its opportunities to UA’s ~40,000 students and faculty.
