ROLLIN’ ON THE RIVER Rolls Into Northport
Event provides an opportunity to learn about Alabama Rivers Alliance and features a silent auction highlighting renowned Alabama artists
Tuscaloosa, Ala. — The Alabama Rivers Alliance will host Rollin’ on the River on Sunday, February 28 from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm to introduce their work of river protection throughout Alabama to the West Alabama communities.
The fundraising event will be held at The Levee in Northport (1 Bridge Avenue) and will feature live music from Clay Wisner, free food from The Levee, drink specials and a silent auction highlighting three renowned Alabama artists: painter Rick Rush (), photographer Beth Maynor Young ( ) and quilt artist Murray Johnston ( ).
“As a statewide organization, we are thrilled to host this party in Northport on the beautiful Black Warrior River to showcase our local partners and our work to protect all of Alabama’s water resources,” Cindy Lowry, executive director of Alabama Rivers Alliance, said. “Advocating for clean water throughout the state is a top priority of ours and we appreciate the opportunity to meet more people in West Alabama and answer any questions from the community about our work on Alabama’s magnificent rivers.”
Rick Rush has generously donated a serigraph of his gorgeous piece WHITEWATER () for the auction. He will also have on hand a wide variety of his prints for sale and to personalize, representing the entire spectrum of his work. Conservation photographer Beth Maynor Young has donated a piece featuring the mighty Black Warrior River. Quilt artist Murray Johnston has created a special piece exclusively for Alabama Rivers Alliance and will unveil it at the event.
The silent auction will also include items such as: guided canoeing adventures, A Patrol Day with Black Warrior Riverkeeper, football signed by Nick Saban, University of Alabama hat signed by Deontay Wilder, signed limited edition prints of Rush’s last three University of Alabama National Championship paintings and more. Attendees will also be entered in drawings for numerous door prizes.
