According to the Alabama Drought Monitoring and Im According to the Alabama Drought Monitoring and Impact Group call yesterday, we have had enough rain at times over the summer to keep us out of long-term drought, but #Alabama saw the driest August ever recorded and we are once again in some level of drought across the entire state. Severe summer dry periods, even if short-lived, can cause significant impacts to farmers, strain water supplies for drinking water utilities and stress aquatic ecosystems. While the drought calls provide valuable information, Alabama still does NOT have a plan in place to compel actions that will help farmers or communities in times of water shortage.
