There are a few important dates coming up for our members and partners regarding our work for a comprehensive Alabama Water Plan. We invite you to join us for the following meetings and events.
MARCH 15 — Permanent Joint Legislative Committee for Water Policy & Management (Water Committee) meeting. ARA’s Program Director Mitch Reid will be addressing the Water Committee about the Alabama Water Plan. Make plans to attend and show your support for an #AlabamaWaterPlan.

APRIL 5 — Alabama Water Agencies Working Group (AWAWG) Meeting in Auburn, AL This will be the first public meeting for citizens to hear the progress report from the governor-appointed focus panels convening to develop a Water Plan for Alabama. Details will be announced soon so please stay tuned.

APRIL 12 — Rivers of Alabama Day. We’re bringing it back! Make plans now to join us in Montgomery for a special day of celebrating rivers and meeting with our elected officials to ask them to consider water and the importance of protecting water in all of their legislative actions. More details soon but trust us, you do NOT want to miss out!
Rivers of Alabama Day was established in 2007 when the Alabama State Legislature passed a resolution establishing the second Tuesday in April as Rivers of Alabama Day. Supported by both houses of the legislature, the purpose of this day is “to recognize the many valuable assets rivers bring to the State of Alabama.”

JUNE 18 — #DefendRivers paddle! Join the Alabama Rivers Alliance for a trip down the river to send a message to our elected officials to consider water and the importance of protecting water in all of their legislative actions. Details coming soon, but mark your calendar today!
