Coal Ash Info Session with Mobile Baykeeper

September 13, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

Mobile Baykeeper will be hosting an informative FAQ session on September 13, focused on the upcoming Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) public hearing concerning coal ash regulations.

The in-person hearing is scheduled for September 20 in Montgomery, with the virtual hearing taking place on September 27.

Earlier this month the EPA proposed denying Alabama’s unsafe coal-ash program for issuing permits, like the one at Plant Barry, because ADEM has failed to meet federal safety standards.

The session aims to provide the community with essential information and insights to actively participate in the public hearing process. With enough public support, we can convince EPA regulators to finalize this proposal and ensure that Alabama’s people and rivers get the same protections as other people in the Southeast.

The EPA’s public hearing represents a crucial opportunity for citizens to voice their concerns, share perspectives, and contribute to the protection of our waterways from industrial pollution.
